How to Tidy your Drawers with Marie Kondo

We are big fans of the lovely Marie Kondo, who has become world-famous over the last few years for her gentle manner, mindful approach and effective techniques. As we start to creep away from the horderding winter months we thought we'd gather together some great Marie Kondo videos to see if they help you get to grips with tidying your home.

This month we thought we'd focus on draws, and Marie's discard, sort and tidy method which will help you get your drawers in order and keep them that way.

Sparking Joy Marie Kondo believes in creating a dialogue with your belongings, while this may take some time to get used to, it is a fabulous way to make sure you are keeping what you actually want to keep and moving away from items that you don't feel connected to. Here she explains how to know if an item of clothing 'sparks joy'

A Closet Clearout

Marie suggests to 'do it all at once and do it now' - which can be a great way to stop procrastinating and get those closest sorted! Here a vlogger goes through the process and reveals what it's like to approach sorting your drawers and closets in this way.

Vertical Folding

A key part of the KonMari technique is how you fold your clothes. No more stacks of items in your cupboards, it's time to fold a new way and that is vertically. Take a look at this video where Marie explains how to fold. This has two key benefits, it allows you to find your clothes easily without rifling through and it is also a great way to create less creases.
